About Me
My name is Sai Samara and I am 14 years old.
I am a Herpetologist and Ecologist, I have two
Northern Curly-tailed Lizard's (Leiocephalus carinatus)
and two Madagascar Giant Day Gecko's (Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis).
I like Reptiles, Ancient Greek Culture and Lifestyle, Graphic Designing, Techno Music and Wilderness Survival. I am a vegetarian because I love Animals so much I cannot even imagine and understand why people would eat them.
Since I was very small, I have always been fascinated by Reptiles and Amphibians, and got the chance to experience Reptiles and Amphibians in the wild!
In 14 years I have been to more than 30 countries all around the world, including:
Costa Rica, the Bahamas, Brazil, Egypt, and most of Europe. While traveling I have seen hundreds of types of Snake's, Lizard's, Frogs, and many other animals, a few where quite poisonous,
the Coral Snake, which I caught in Costa Rica, not knowing it was poisonous (I was only 8 years old at the time)! Some people might not like Reptiles and Amphibians, but in the time I have had with these amazing creatures, I have found that Reptiles are very unique, they can do things we dream about.
For example, the Basalisk Lizard (Basiliscus basiliscus) that can run on water,
and the Flying Dragon (Draco volans) that can glide from tree to tree!
But the modern world is been growing very fast, and Habitat Destruction, Global Warming and Over-Hunting are a real threat to the Reptiles.
I have always had a dream, to help save the Reptiles (the "Living Dinosaurs"), and to live an Ancient Greek lifestyle!
To set my dream into motion, I have created two projects, W.T.G. (Walking To Greece) and
H.E.R.P. (Help for Endangered Reptiles Project).
Walking To Greece
In Summer 2012, I am planing to walk to from Germany to Greece in order to raise Founds and Awareness for Help for Endangered Reptiles Project (H.E.R.P.)!
It will take about 80 days, and the journey is more than 2000 km, during the journey I will be filming myself and the interesting wildlife that I encounter!
Then I will organise and put the clips together to create a Documentary about my trip! I also hope to raise founds to start creating a Reptile Sanctuary!
Help for Endangered Reptiles Project
After I raise founds I will start creating a Reptile Sanctuary!
I plan to found it in Agia, Greece to help save the Greek Tortoise and many other species which are listed as Vulnerable in the IUNC Red List.
They are not endangered yet...
But with Habitat Destruction and Global Warming, I believe that the Greek Tortoise and THOUSANDS of Animals could become extinct in the Wild
